Rainy Day

I would like to catch everyone up to speed about what is going on in our family. It has been a VERY hard week on everyone. Last Saturday, I woke up running a fever and just not feeling very well. Didn't think much of it at the time, took some tylenol and went to my in-laws for a cook out anyhow because I didn't want it to ruin my weekend with family. Sunday wasn't feeling any better, still running a fever and since Steve was home, got to lay in bed all day to try to get better by Monday.

Monday morning dawned bright and early and with the whole house sick! Kyle, Stevie, Freddy, and I were all running fevers. Steve called out of work that day so we could all go to the doctor. The boys are all on antibiotics now, except Stevie because he finished his yesterday. Freddy has an ear infection, Kyle has bronchitis, and Stevie has a cold.

I was diagnosed with an upper respiratory infection and they put me on Prednisone. This is my usual course of treatment with an URI, so I didn't think anything of it. Steve went and got the meds filled, brought them home and I took my Prednisone. I will never again take for granted ANY medication. Apparently I am allergic to Prednisone. I woke up Tuesday morning not feeling all that great. I had started throwing up in the middle of the night, and noticed I had a rash on my hands and arms. I then started looking in the mirror and noticed that it was everywhere, but for some odd reason, I didn't think anything of it. I took another dose of the Prednisone, and around 4 in the afternoon, I was extremely cold. Checked my temp and it was 102.5. I couldn't take anything for it because I couldn't keep anything down. Steve got home around 5:30 and by then I was having trouble breathing. So he made some phone calls and found someone to sit for the boys and off we went to the ER.

After some epinephrine and fluids and various other medications. I started feeling better. Was told to keep the Benedryl going at home for the next 5 days. I am now 3 days out from the ER and I feel better. I woke up this morning feeling a little worse than before, but that is because I missed a does of Benedryl during the night. I am feeling better now and know to never take Prednisone ever again.

The boys are doing better too. All except for Stevie. He is running a fever still, but thankfully he is in the low 99s. Just keep everyone in your thoughts and prayers this weekend and next week. Steve is now feeling under the weather, and since he can't really take any time off at the moment because he took it off with me, we are going to have to pray that he kicks his illness quickly.
